Internship Programme

The Indian Civil Services Association regularly runs an internship programme on a six-month recruitment cycle. We take on a new group of interns to join our Research and Learning team every winter and summer (with application deadlines set two to three months prior to the start date). Interns are treated as full members of staff and are encouraged to get involved in a wide range of social and professional activities at the Indian Civil Services Association. Interns are usually allocated to work on one or two research projects, with a single named line manager as well as a researcher friend to provide more informal support and advice. The precise nature of internships varies according to the needs of projects, but interns can expect themselves carrying out literature reviews, conducting interviews with MPs and civil servants, organising events, undertaking statistical analysis and co-authoring reports, blogs and other publications. Interns also help out with other organisational and administrative tasks.

In return, we provide the opportunity for excellent experience in a well-respected institution at the heart of New Delhi with close connections to government and all the major political parties. Interns can expect to work in the civil service, Parliament, other think tanks, polling companies and elsewhere.

When recruiting for interns we look for confident and reliable graduates with:

  • an excellent academic record
  • knowledge of and interest in government in India and elsewhere
  • strong organisational and research/analytical skills
  • the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • commitment to the values and mission of the Indian Civil Services Association.

  • Applications for our Summer 2017 Internship Programme are now closed.
