  • Interview or personality test in civil services examination is the last hurdle to cross. It is not an assessment of intellectual abilities alone but also social traits and a candidate’s curiosity in day to day happenings of national and global importance. The interview panel intends to check scores of qualities in a candidate, including balance of judgments’, clear and logical exposition, mental alertness, intellectual and moral integrity, variety and depth of interests and ability for social cohesion and leadership.
  • Interview according to UPSC is described to be a test of candidate’s overall personality which includes analytical ability, lateral thinking, logical decision making etc. The objective of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board of competent and unbiased observers. The test is intended to judge the mental caliber of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only his/her intellectual qualities but also social traits and his/her interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical Exposition, balance of judgment, variety and depth of interest, ability for social cohesion and leadership, intellectual and moral integrity.

    Mock interview UPSC is an imitation of the actual IAS interview famously known as the personality test. A mock interview IAS is presided over by a board of eminent panelists which includes former civil servants, retired IAS/IPS officers, senior bureaucrats, eminent faculty members, psychoanalysts and subject matter experts.
